Home decor is a very visual topic. Tidy Dwelling uses pictures to show room ideas, color mixes, furniture shapes, fabrics, layouts, and new decor trends. Pictures are a big part of what we do, so we treat image rights with care.

This page tells you where our pictures come from, how we give credit, and what to do if you find your work on our site and want credit, a change, or removal.

Our Honest Promise

We believe that the way we use pictures follows fair use rules, public domain rules, licenses, or permissions linked to each picture. We never want to break anyone’s rights, including copyright, trademark, image rights, or ownership.

The internet can be confusing, though. One decor photo may show up on a brand page, a news release, a stock website, a social media page, a public archive, or many copied pages before it reaches us. We try our best to use every picture the right way. If someone tells us about a problem, we fix it fast.

We Respect Creators

We respect photographers, designers, stylists, artists, brands, editors, and everyone who makes images. Pictures help us tell the story of home decor, and the people behind them deserve fair treatment.

If you made a picture and you see it on Tidy Dwelling, we want it to be easy to reach us. We will handle your message with kindness and speed.

Where Our Pictures May Come From

Tidy Dwelling may use pictures in articles, room guides, idea lists, decor tips, shopping guides, and examples. Not every article uses every type below, but these are the places our pictures may come from.

Brand, News, and Press Pictures

Some pictures may show furniture, home products, stores, designers, room designs, or ad campaigns. We may use them to talk about, review, explain, or compare things.

This kind of use can count as fair use when the picture helps explain or discuss what we are writing about. For example, a brand photo may appear in an article about how a sofa fits in a small room or how a new trend looks.

When needed, we give credit to the brand, photographer, store, press source, or owner. If credit is missing or wrong, please email us at [email protected].

Paid Stock Photos

We may use pictures that we paid for from stock photo websites, such as Shutterstock, Adobe Stock, Depositphotos, iStock, Getty Images, Canva Pro, and others.

These pictures follow the rules of the website we got them from. We may use them for mood boards, room ideas, decor examples, shopping topics, or to simply show what an article is about when we have no photo of our own.

Each stock website has different rules, so we follow the rules of each one.

Creative Commons Pictures

Some pictures may come from places where creators share their work with open licenses, such as Unsplash, Pexels, Pixabay, Burst, Flickr Commons, and similar sites.

These licenses can be CC0, CC BY, CC BY-SA, and more. When a license asks for credit, we try to show the creator’s name, a link to the source, and any license details.

If one of these pictures has missing credit, partial credit, or a wrong link, we will fix it after we check.

Public Domain Pictures

Some pictures are in the public domain, which means no one owns the copyright anymore. We may use old room photos, historic home designs, drawings, museum pictures, or public records.

Sources can include Wikimedia Commons, the Library of Congress, Smithsonian Open Access, museum archives, government archives, and similar collections.

These pictures do not always need credit, but we may still add a source note to help readers know where the picture came from.

Our Own Photos

Some pictures are made for Tidy Dwelling by us, our writers, or people we hire. These may include room photos, close-ups of decor, flat lays, or lifestyle shots.

We own these photos, or we have permission from the person who took them. Please do not copy, reuse, repost, or share them without asking us first.

Pictures Sent by Readers or Partners

Sometimes readers, writers, brands, photographers, or partners send us pictures. We use them only when we have permission to post them.

These may appear in reader features, partner posts, brand stories, or idea examples. When someone sends us a picture, they are saying they have the right to share it and let us post it.

If a picture was sent by mistake or without permission, the owner can contact us, and we will look into it and fix it.

How We Give Credit

When credit is needed, we try to name the creator, photographer, brand, website, archive, or source. We may add a link to the original page.

Credit can appear under the picture, in a note in the article, in a credit line, or in another fair spot on the page. The spot may change depending on the article and the type of picture.

If credit is wrong, missing, or linked to the wrong place, we will fix it quickly once we have enough details to check.

When Credit Might Be Missing

On a site full of pictures, credit may sometimes be missing by mistake. This can happen because we overlooked it, a source link stopped working, an old page was deleted, a license page changed, or a picture was shared all over the web before we found it.

We never do this on purpose. We do not want to take credit for anyone’s work or hide where a picture came from.

If you see a picture that needs credit, better credit, a new link, a watermark change, or removal, please tell us. We would rather fix it with you than have a creator feel ignored.

What You Can Ask For

If you own a picture you found on Tidy Dwelling, you can pick what works best for you:

  1. Ask for credit. If you are happy for the picture to stay, but you want clearer credit, we can add or fix it.
  2. Ask for a change in how it looks. You can ask us to crop it, resize it, change the caption, fix the credit link, update the source note, or change the watermark.
  3. Ask us to remove it. If you want the picture gone, we can take it off the page.

For any of these, email [email protected] with the page link and what you want.

How Fast We Reply

We try to reply within 48 hours. Simple removals can usually be done on the same business day after we check the request.

Some requests take longer. This can happen if we need to confirm who owns the picture, if the picture is on many pages, or if you are asking about many pictures. Even then, we will work quickly and politely.

What to Put in Your Email

To help us work faster, please include:

  • The link to the Tidy Dwelling page where the picture appears.
  • A link to the original source of the picture, if you have it.
  • Proof that you own it, such as a portfolio link, your photography website, a brand page, an archive page, or a license page.
  • Your name, or the name of the owner.
  • How you want us to reach you.
  • Your choice: credit, change, or removal.
  • The exact credit words or link you want, if you are asking for credit.

You do not need to write a legal letter. A clear email with the picture link and your request is enough for us to begin.

What Happens Next

After we get your email, we will look at the page, find the picture, and check the details you sent. If needed, we may confirm the owner, source link, or license.

Then we will take the right step. We may add credit, fix credit, change how the picture looks, replace it, or remove it fully.

When we finish, we will email you back if possible so you know it is done.

You Do Not Need a Lawyer First

You do not need to hire a lawyer or send a formal notice before you contact us. A simple email is welcome.

We like clear, kind, and direct talk. Most picture problems can be solved faster with a simple message than with a long legal fight.
